"Nature Boy"-Nat "King" Cole

This song really stuck out to me for several reasons. Nat "King" Cole has an absolutely amazing voice especially on this song. He really captures an aesthetic with the song nature boy. He has such an atmosphere while performing this song. His voice is so smooth and the instruments always come in at the perfect moment. It brings to my mind a Disney villain enchanting the hero. I can very easily get lost in this song and its atmosphere. It has a very pretty and sinister feel to it. I used to play the cello for a long time all through middle school and high school. Because I played cello for so long I can really appreciate the use of strings in this song. I love the cello and just orchestras in general. This song captures the essence of a dark and smoky room very late at night. I like when he talks about love as the most important thing you can learn. I think that Love is really behind everything we do. Love has so many various forms and it is somehow different for everybody and yet still universal. I really liked this song and I am super excited to get into Rock and Roll in class.

  1. Hey! I remember the video we saw in class, and I really enjoyed his performance. I like how he pays a lot of attention to the camera. I like your notice about the string section, as I like cellos a lot, but I’ve never tried to play one. He is definitely very smooth and accurate with his delivery, so I like this song a lot, too.

  2. You perfectly described the vibe and overall feeling this song seems to depict. I love your analogies and the visuals you provide. You put into words everything I was already feeling from the song! His voice is extremely satisfying to listen to and fit the style of the song very well.

  3. I think the beginning of this song starts out kind of mysterious, then turns into the kind of song that would be playing when someone is showing an indigenous island. I have to agree, he does have a very smooth voice. I can totally see how it feels like it's from a disney movie. I think they could play this in a Peter Pan movie, even.
